Nerf N-Strike Elite Ranges - 75ft vs 15m?

Update at the NerfNation Facebook Wall...

"We know that a few eagle-eyed members of Nerf Nation have spotted two different versions of the N-Strike Elite Retaliator blaster video we posted online earlier this week, and wanted to clear up any confusion. We pride ourselves on offering high-performance blasters that adhere to our own strict safety standards, as well as standards set by each country where Nerf blasters are available. It is for this reason that, while most of our fans internationally will be seeing up to 75 foot distances using the N-Strike Elite blasters, members of Nerf Nation located in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, China and the Philippines will see a distance of up to 15 meters. N-Strike Elite blasters around the world will all feature Elite blaster styling, design and darts. We can’t wait to share more information with you, Nation, and may have some more details up our sleeves for next week. Stay tuned."

    1. actually the age limitation for games has been lifted we now can get 18+ games as soon as they release them.

  2. This explains a lot, it explains that nerf is about as indecisive as the D.O.D.

  3. Those distances aren't equivalent. 75 feet is about 22-23 metres, not 15. So which one is correct?

    1. Dman,

As mentioned in their explanation, Nerf has to cater to the different safety standards in certain countries.

Most countries will get "up to 75ft" range blasters, while some countries (as indicated in their update) will have reduced ranged versions that only get "up to 15m or 49ft" ranges.

    2. i have a modded stampede that exceeds 49ft by about 10 ft and i'm in Australia... :P

    1. Samuel Ng,

Well, Singapore was not mentioned in the update as one of the countries getting the lower ranged versions... therefore it looks like we are getting the higher ranged versions, so lets just keep our fingers crossed. :)

    2. Ohhh!! Sorry I posted before I read. Btw do you know where I can still get the nerf pinpoint sight?

    3. Samuel Ng,

They seem to be already fully redeemed at most of the local major dept stores, i guess you could check with local nerfers at the NerfSG forum, see if anyone there happens to still have spares to sell.

    4. Oooooo yeah! I thought we will be getting 15m versions!

  6. you know what?
I think this is stupid. Handycaps
why don't the public just agree to a single and simple thing and shows that some countries are WEAK! in terms of safety and couldn't handle a simple foam gun that reaches 75 feet!
It's not like we are going to kill someone with it.

  7. Wow. After a year or two, how will people know which they are getting in the second-hand community? Of course, Hasbro would rather have the first hand sales... haha. I guess, I just never thought of varying distances before.

  8. ok, 2 things

    1. For the above mentions countries, yes. If your country is not mentioned, then they will be distributing the 75ft version and not the decreased 15 metre version to your area.

  9. i bet they are the same ranges and they just have different numbers for marketing reasons.

Like mabye the Safty test in some countrys is PTG and others its ATG..

They will be the same hardware .. making a plaster that shoots 30% less far is not going to happen.

    Its just branding.

Look at what Nerf did to Urban Taggers.. There different divisions are all not in good communication.. they will be the same Hardware inside and perform the same just different number on the box.

These new blasters barrels are spiral not strait lines so they will have bad barrels. which is a shame new plunger lay outs are cool but.. hurr..

at the end of the day. With hopper blasters not being able to reach the 150ft a longshot can when modded with a Xplorer or the new Orange mod works kits (likelY).. DIY nerf is pretty pointless unless you are making a shotgun

And if you want a rapid fire nerf new Flywheel semi auto blasters really have shown that they all the king

Imo this is best set up for Dart

    Sniper
Longshot+retail mod kit (Xp or OMW) 150ft

    Rate of fire
Any flywheel blaster +high volt batterys

    Close/Targeted/Stealth "tactical" what everBS
Some kinda DIY shotgun blaster or Grenade

The DIY comunity should shift its focus to making
    +Spray Shotguns
+6shot pistols that only have single prime for all shots

its time to let the +bow become historic. Mods to LongShots + some Eilet blasters will make Hoppers and +bow look pointless beside modded clipfed. We need some new pistol/shotty DIY not any more snipers that hit 100ft when u can likely easly mod a elite or Longshot to do 150ft

    1. Price. All I'm gonna say. A SNAP costs maybe $50. A Longshot, plus all mod components? Costs more than it gets for ranges.

  10. Umm, sg Nerf, does 15m apply to HK, because the box that I got my longstrike in says 35ft

    1. hell bulder,

I've no idea either, i guess you'll have to wait and see which version pops up in Hong Kong.

Btw, the Longstrike is not an Elite Series blaster, its a standard N-Strike blaster... all Longstrikes worldwide have the same "shoots up to 35ft" label. :)

  12. so the only way to get the 75 feet versions in australia is to import them?

    1. Anonymous,

I guess that's the only way to get the 75ft versions at those mentioned countries.

  13. ELITE IN THAILAND GETS 75ft VERSION!

  14. Gahh...is it just gonna be the air restrictor??? Cos then I can "fix" it :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, this won't be too much of an issue if we know how they intend to 'restrict' the range for Australia.
Any ideas on how easy it is to 'un-restrict'?

    1. Unknown,

Urban Taggers in Australia managed to do an internal comparison of the 75ft versions vs the 15m versions, and they found that Nerf basically just used weaker springs in the 15m versions.

      You can read it here:

      http://urbantaggers.blogspot.com/2012/10/n-strike-elite-retaliator-orange-vs.html

So i guess its just a matter of replacing their springs to get them up to par with the 75ft versions.

  16. 15m isn't that bad, because it's PTG range. My Hail-Fire gets more than 15m (it's more like 17-19m) if i angle the shots.
